An excellent bargain this 100% Tempranillo (80-100-year old vines) was aged completely in stainless steel. Patrick Mata told me that the village from which it emerges has only 95 residents, all of whom are grape farmers! This may be the 'bargain of the year' in my tastings. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as copious notes of black cherry jam licorice blackberries and subtle hints of earth pepper and meat.

The 2009 Tosalet is an unoaked Priorat made up of 50% Garnacha 30% Carinena and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from vines over 45 years of age. Dark ruby red in color with an alluring nose of mineral, red licorice, lavender cinnamon and wild cherry on the palate it displays some complexity a velvety texture and excellent balance. This full-bodied value-priced Priorat is a great introduction to the region.

The fullest bodied of the Castle Rock lot it is comparatively thick on the palate and struggles to find a fruity voice, but it is a clean and weighty red that will drink well with roasts and simple stews all the same.
The 2012 Garnacha de Fuego a 100% Grenache cuvee, was aged in both stainless steel and neutral French oak. There are 10,000 cases for the United States. This amazing wine boasts a dark ruby/purple color along with a sweet kiss of jammy black cherries intertwined with crushed rock notes that give the wine an undeniable minerality.
Wine which is crystalline in appearance garnet-coloured an aroma of red fruits and fermentation on skins smooth and full-bodied with smooth tannins lending it a prolonged aftertaste denoting its constituent grape varieties. Grape Varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon Tinta Caiada, Moreto, Alicante Bouschet Castelao Trincadeira and Aragones.
